1937 - 2020

Basil “Dink” McDougall – of Red Bay, at the age of 83, passed suddenly at Grey Bruce Health Services Wiarton on Thursday December 10, 2020. Beloved husband of Nancy (nee Thomas) for 62 years. Devoted father of Julie Kipfer, of Breslau, Joanne (Kirk Lackenbauer), of Port Franks, Jane (Rob Bechtloff), of Red Bay, and Scott (Cheryl), of Elmira. Cherished grandfather of Jeremy Kipfer (Tammy), Jessica (Andy Lanka), Jake Kipfer, Kyle Lackenbauer (Jessica), Craig Lackenbauer (Alyssa), Brad Bechtloff (Jessica), Shawn Bechtloff (Niki), Cassidy McDougall (Ty) and Nicole McDougall (Sean); and great-grandfather of Dallas, Carson, Brody, Hadley, Jade, Milo, Peyton, Hudson, and Harper. Brother of Harvey (Mary), and brother-in-law of Kate McDougall, Cavell Thomas, Catherine Thiel, Paul Thomas, Jim Goll, and Charles Thomas (Nancy). Sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Reginald and Iolene; brother, Gordie; brothers-in-law, Gerry Thiel, and Robert Thomas; and sisters-in-law, Judy Thomas, and Jane Goll. Dad loved spending time with family and friends at his happy place in Red Bay. He loved playing cards with the goal of winning (and we all know how that happened!!!!!). He loved watching his Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren play the sports they loved. They were his pride and joy. He touched the lives of many people with his dedication to coaching. Family was his world as he was ours. Family wish to express their sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Wiarton Hospital for the wonderful care Basil received.
