1920 - 2018

The Family of Bette Esmé Cameron is sad to announce the passing of their mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, on August 29, 2018. Bette passed after a long and beautiful life, at age 98, supported in her final days by all of her family holding vigilance at her bedside. Bette is now released to a Devine Realm to join her parents, George and Nellie Lowe, brother Douglas, husband John (Jack), infant son Andrew Allen, and grandson Andrew John. Bette leaves behind a large and loving extended family, including her children, Doug (Rosey), Jim (Mary), Nancy (Blair Walser), George (Lorrie), Barb (Mike Hillis), as well as 10 grandchildren, Kelly (Derek), Kaitlin, Katrina, Matthew, Rod (Deanna), Brad (Krystal), Jordan (Erica), Jenna (Jarrett), Keri (Allan), Ben (Lael) and 14 great grandchildren, Cole, Teryn, Keira, Laila, Traeh, Ryker, Brixon, Jaxon, Faith, Odin, Grace, Emma, Cameron and Logan. Bette was a strong, loving, caring woman, loved by anyone who knew her. She was born in England, and was raised in Waterloo, where she was very involved as a leader in Girl Guides. After marriage, she moved to Fergus and was the driving force in creating Cubs and Scouts, and then Brownies and Girl Guides in Fergus and as such she became District Commissioner of the Girl Guide Association in the Fergus and Elora area for many years. Bette and Jack retired to Sauble Beach. Bette lived her last 8 years at Gateway Haven Nursing Home in Wiarton. The family is grateful to Gateway for providing a loving home for Bette, and especially for the support received in the last days of her life. A celebration of life will be held at Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral Home, 814 Bruce Rd 8, Sauble Beach (519) 422-0041 on Saturday September 15th, with visitation at 11:00, service at 1:00 and lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Ronald McDonald House, and the Alberta Children’s Heart Society.
