1939 - 2021

Of Colpoy’s Bay, peacefully at Grey Bruce Health Services, Wiarton on Saturday August 21, 2021. William “Bill” Charles Barber at the age of 82 years. Dear husband and best friend of the former Joyce Mae Crerar for over 58 years. Devoted father of Todd, Scott, and Lynn. Cherished grandfather of Brittany, Jenna, Mikaela, and Macy. Sadly missed by his brother-in-law Charles Crerar; his nephews; and his great-niece. Predeceased by his parents, William and Violet. Bill joined the airforce as a teenager, based in Moose Jaw, Sask.. He was an aircraft mechanic in Malton for several years before joining the Stratford Police Force. Bill and Joyce owned the Mile Inn, north of Wiarton, prior to moving to Colpoy’s Bay. He worked in construction and masonry in the area and spent countless hours building their house in Colpoy’s. Bill volunteered with Scouts, Air Cadets and his church over the years. He was a member of Legion Branch 06 and was honoured to be “the adopted veteran” of the Ladies Auxiliary, Branch 208. He enjoyed travelling and boating on the Bay. Family wish to express their sincere appreciation to the doctors and nursing staff of the Wiarton Hospital for the wonderful care they provided to Bill. A Memorial Gathering to celebrate Bill’s life will take place from the Thomas C. Whitcroft Peninsula Chapel, 272 Berford St., Wiarton (519) 534-5341 on Saturday August 28, 2021 at 2 o’clock PM. Although the service is private, friends are welcome to view the service via Zoom at 2 PM by selecting the ‘Attend Zoom Service’ on Bill’s page on the funeral home website.
