Simons, James “Jim” - Of Owen Sound and formerly of Pike
Bay, suddenly at Grey Bruce Health Services Owen Sound on Wednesday
August 31, 2016. James “Jim” Allan Simons at the age of
90 years. Devoted husband to the late Doris Amanda Simons (nee Hood)
for 54 years. Cherished father of Tom Dufton (Tracey), of Owen Sound,
Jim Dufton (Sue), of Wasaga Beach, Jenny (Phil Lawson), of Mt. Hope,
and Gaye (André Boucher), of Ancaster. Beloved grandfather of
14; and great-grandfather of many. Also survived by his sisters Murial
Newport, Phyllis Murphy, and Ruth VanFleet. Sadly missed by his nieces
and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Elmer and Annie (nee Guyer);
brother, Wilf Tuesdale; brothers-in-law Bill Newport, and Irvin Murphy.
Family wish to extend special thanks to Dr. Siddiqi and the nursing
staff of the Owen Sound Hospital; Mandy Klunder from Closing the Gap,
and Mackhall Mobility for meeting Jim’s needs so effectively.
Jim was proud to serve his country during WWII as a member of the Queen’s
Own Rifles. At Jim’s request, cremation has taken place. Private
family arrangements have been made through the Thomas C. Whitcroft Peninsula
