Peacefully at his Wiarton residence on Saturday, February 13, 2016. William Melbourn Bartley at the age of 93 years. Loving father of Pat (Ed Johnson), of Nanaimo, BC, Connie (Tom Finlay), of Havelock, Bill (Barb), of Wiarton, Murray (friend Lena), of Brantford, Steve (Karen), of Calgary, and Donna (Roger Hepburn), of Wiarton. Cherished grandfather of 19; great-grandfather of 24; and great-great-grandfather of 1. Brother of Elda Given, of Dundas, Katie Powell, of Brantford, and Rosie (Jack Cook), of Markham; and brother-in-law of Lorraine Bartley, and Murray Millard. Predeceased by his parents, Charlie and Annie; wives, Roma (nee Hatt), and Bernice (nee James); son-in-law Neil Wardrop; daughter-in-law Joan Bartley; brothers, Stan, Norm, and Alvin; sisters, Shirley Millard, and Winnie Isbester; brothers-in-law, Norm Given, and Jeff Isbester; sisters-in-law, Eileen Bartley, and June Bartley; granddaughter, Jackie; and great-granddaughter, Tayja. Mel was a veteran of WWII, serving his country proudly with the 15th Canadian Light Field Ambulance, RCAMC. Family invite friends to gather for visitation at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral Home & Chapel, 814 Bruce Rd. 8, Sauble Beach (519) 422-0041, on Thursday, February 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A service to celebrate Mel’s life will be conducted from the Hepworth-Shallow Lake Legion #586, 9 Legion Rd, Hepworth on Friday at 1 o’clock. Members of RCL #586 will conduct a Legion Service at the funeral home on Thursday evening at 6:30 PM. Donations to the BPHS Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
