Roger White

1946 - 2015

Roger Mckay passed away on August 13, 2015 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Roger enjoyed life to the fullest and looked forward to every day saying, "What do we have planned today, Susan?" His many interests included gardening, writing poetry, singing in choirs, acting and singing in the Peninsula Players. Halloween and walking with his wife Susan around Red Bay and Lion's Head. He was often seen among the ladies of the Mar Women's Institute making coleslaw and serving food in Roger's downstairs cafe during Fish and Beef Dinners. He also put to DVD volumes of the local Tweedsmuir History Book for the Mar Women's Institute. When asked if he would like to join the Mar Women's Institute, he replied, "I would, but I don't have the legs for it". But during the Peninsula Players production, "Way Out West in a Dress", he proved that he did indeed have the legs for it!
Roger is survived by his wife Susan; and brothers Dave and his wife Debby, and Brian; and many nieces and nephews.
Roger is remembered by his many friends for his beautiful tenor voice, good sense of humour, and compassionate nature. He was always first to offer help and volunteered to make DVDs of plays, people and of course Summerfolk. Roger will be missed by his many friends, but especially his wife Susan to whom he was devoted.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Earthbound Gardens, Hea Road, in Red Bay on August 19, at 3:00. Please bring lawn chair and umbrellas. Celebration may be moved indoors to the Mar Women's Institute in case of severe weather.

If so desired, donations to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation would be appreciated.

It has been our honour to serve this family
