Dirkje “Mary Lou” van Gerven
Welcomed into the arms of the Lord on January 21, 2023. “Mary Lou” Dirkje van Gerven (nee Dijkstra) from Wiarton, in her 85th year. Born in Barradeel, Netherlands. In her younger days, Mary Lou appreciated fashion and was always dressed to the nines, even while she sat for hours watching the Indy Car races on TV. Many trips were taken to Holland to visit her family. She leaves behind her son Hans van Gerven (Jackie); and was a proud Oma to Jonathan van Gerven. Mary Lou also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Mary Lou was predeceased by her parents Jan-Meijer-Dijkstra and Loukje Koster, sister Saapke Bakker, and brother and sister-in-law Tymen and Tjikke Dijkstra all from the Netherlands. Family wish to express their gratitude to the doctors, nursing staff, and volunteers of Gateway Haven Wiarton, for the wonderful care and compassion given to Mary Lou. "How we treat our children today, will reflect on our future for tomorrow" Be kind and loving to your children! Following her wishes, there will be no visitation or service.
